Money Saving Ideas for Your Wedding
Reception Center
If you’re looking to save money on a reception center, they give bigger discounts for booking during the week, and on Holidays. Other cheap ideas for your reception are to have it in a friend’s backyard, or reserve a park.
Money Dance
Looking to recoup some of your costs at the wedding? Have a money dance at your reception. A tradition in some Latin cultures, the money dance allows guests to pin money ($1 bill, $5, $20 or more!) on the bride or groom or place it in a hat, in exchange for a dance.
Just have your DJ announce the rules, and run as many songs as you need until everyone has had a chance to dance. Some of my couples have gotten over $1000 to spend on their honeymoons, or things for their new place.
Wedding Cake
Save money on your wedding cake! This tip comes from one of my couples that did most of their wedding themselves, and saved a ton of money (yet still pulled together an awesome wedding!)
They went to a regular grocery store bakery and asked the cake department how much it would be to decorate a plain white cake in the colors they wanted. The bakery wouldn’t tell them “how much” the cake was until they told them what it was for. Of course they are going to charge MUCH more for a “wedding cake” than they would for a “birthday cake” or some other event. So their secret was to just say it was for a party. They got a beautiful wedding cake for less than $40.
