Why Hire a Professional?

So your friend has a nice camera and is just “getting into” photography…

and wants to experiment on your wedding day. Why not, right? After all, you have seen a few shots they’ve taken outdoors and they are pretty good.

The following pictures demonstrate the difference between hiring a professional photographer, and just having some family friend who has little experience shooting an actual wedding.

The pictures on the right were taken by Moments to Remember next to pictures on the left taken by an amateur at the exact same venue and during the exact same time of day.

These are actual pictures taken at Aspen Landing Reception center by someone claiming to be a photographer, who even had a pretty nice camera & a mounted flash!

Aspen Landing is a very difficult venue with high ceilings (farther for a flash to bounce off) and dim lighting. But that’s why you must have someone who knows what they are doing.
Don’t let this happen to you.

I didn’t have a professional photographer at my wedding.

The following images are what I have to remember my wedding day.

My parents are super thrifty and spent hours & hours putting the whole thing together on a shoe-string budget. Photography was definitely not a priority because of the cost.
In the end, it really was amazing how beautiful my wedding turned out with so little money. It’s just too bad I don’t have any pictures to show you how beautiful it was.

So many weddings are a low-lighting nightmare for beginner photographers.

If you hire a family/friend who hasn’t dealt with these situations, you are going to end up with blurry, dark, grainy images like these.

Several family/friend hobbyists will call themselves “professional photographers” but have only shot outdoors or in a studio.

A wedding is a whole different ballgame, and if they let the camera run on auto, you’ll be seeing a lot of blurry/flashed images.

These images are just the beginning of the stack of dark, blurry pictures I have from my wedding.

Don’t let this happen to you.

You only have ONE wedding day, and once it’s gone, you will never be able to bring it back.

Photography is the expense you can’t afford to cut out, because it really preserves everything else you’ve spent for that special day.

Make sure you entrust those priceless memories with someone who has experience dealing with low-light conditions. With the experience of over 75 weddings, I know what it takes to capture your wedding in any lighting. Have confidence in putting that special job in my hands.
